The area of Aberlour is blessed with some of the worlds’ most reknowned whiskey distilleries, and here’s my selection on those who serve up an interesting experience.

Glenfiddich Distillery Visitor Centre

Big and busy and well worth putting on your whiskey trail list, the tour is fun and informative. If you want to take the in-depth Connoissuer’s tour than you have to book

Macallan Distillery

Macallan is my favourite whiskey, matured in a sherry cask this tasty malt is a pleasure to taste. There are several small group tours available at the distillery, plus you can elect to take the expert tour which you should pre-book.

Speyside Cooperage

Only a mile from Craigellachie try and fit this in. They don’t distill whiskey they make the barrels and it’s fascinating to watch these craftsmen at work.

There’s a smashing coffee shop and a superb gift shop.
